My refection on this article is about the blogosphere operates like a democracy. The reason why the blogosphere is similar to democracy is because everyone has a say. Democracy is a form of government where citizens exercise their power by voting. The blogosphere let individuals exercise their power allowing them to put any comment they want on other people blogs. In the article it said that the blogosphere is parallels with ancient Athens, with a system of enlightened democracy. The reason why the blogosphere and ancient Athens are parallel to each other because the internet access remains majority of global citizens to explore and say whatever they want to say on theirs or other individuals blogs. I can relate to this because I’m able to go on other individual blogs and say whatever I say about other their blogs. That’s why I reflected the blogosphere as a democracy because vast majority of individuals including me are able to say whatever we can on the blogs.
Main Idea
The main idea throughout this article is about the blogsphere and how it operates. The blogsphere lies minority of active bloggers who post, comment, and link frequently creating a conversational community based on personal network facilitated by blogging tools and technologies. Blogosphere isn’t a cohesive group of people who share the same common goal. It also forms an imagined community based on new form of amateurized and personalized journalism practiced by the people who may never meet yet can engage conversation and share a common identity. The blogosphere filters content more open to outside voices. The filtering that occurs in the blogging community is based on perceived value of each discreet of information. Also, the authority and exposure of the author within the community. Low cost appeal of instinct publishing promotes a democratic feeling that permeates the blogosphere. This is how the blogosphere operates for the bloggers.
Key Points
Some key points in this article that I would like to point out is that two-thirds of public weblogs created a centralized hosting service that haven’t been updated in two months. Addition to that is all communities larger than primordial villages of face to face contact are imagined. Another key point is mass ceremony, which is individuals receive information relevant to their lives within the national community. Also, filtering community allows interaction in the small-scale by giving readers opportunity to add their own thought in individuals blog.
